The Diapason Posterior Pedicle Screw System was introduced internationally in 1990. With its patented ball ring technology it has one of the longest clinical histories of any spinal instrumentation system on the market today. The ball ring design permits polyaxial and monoaxial design in a single screw. The conical thread design of the Diapason screw requires no tapping and is self-centering. Recent revisions to the system have seen the introduction of the new combo closure mechanism. This enhancement combines the closure ring and blocker into one easy to apply locking unit.

Diapason™ Features and Benefits

  • STABILITY: The conical shape of the screw eliminates the need for preliminary tapping and enables easier and safer screw insertion with outstanding stability of fixation.
  • SAFETY: The patented locking mechanism between the blocker, ball ring and rod ensures 360 degrees of circumferential locking around the rod. The blocker and cap combination are designed to provide a dual locking force to secure the assembly.
  • EASE OF USE: The top loading, top-tightening screw features a patented ball ring that allows for 30 degrees of angulation at the screw/rod interface. The30 degrees of angulation obtained in the sagittal plane minimizes the need for rod contouring. This variability provides the additional benefit of reducing construct pre-stress, thereby preserving optimum fixation at the screw/bone interface.
  • Long arm screws facilitate the rod introduction and eliminate the need for specific reduction instruments.
